Week of January 6, 2025
Happy New Year! It is hard to believe that it is 2025
already. MEWEA will be sending
President’s updates and messages to all members throughout the coming
year. If you have anything you would
like me to share with the association, please feel free to let me know and I
will make sure it gets included. Just send me an email at [email protected].
January 10th marks the beginning of the
2025 Legislative Session. As this new session gets going, we will monitor any
important legislation that may be of interest and keep our members apprised of
those bills.
On December 19th, the EPA issued the draft
Human Health Water Quality Criteria for PFOA, PFOS, and PFBS.
https://www.epa.gov/wqc/human-health-water-quality-criteria-pfas MeWEA will be working with Maine DEP and
submitting comment related to this criteria and will keep our members updated
as we work through this.
Our Next Board meeting will be January 17th
and will be held virtually. As always,
any member is always welcome to attend one of our Board meetings. If you would
like to attend and learn more about MEWEA, please feel free to email me.
We still currently have a vacant position open for
Laboratory Committee Chair. If you are
interested or know of someone who might be, please feel free to let us know.
MEWEA has moved administrative services to the Maine
Municipal Association, but will continue to work collaboratively on several
events with MWUA throughout the year.
I look forward to working with all of you in 2025.
Theresa L. Tucker
