Assistant Operator Position (full time temporary) - Old Town

Employee will work under the general supervision of the Superintendent or Plant Operator. The position is full time temporary position.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Performs sewer collection system maintenance, including flushing lines, cleaning and rebuilding manholes, and diagnosing problem lines with TV inspection equipment.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on treatment plant building and equipment.
- Inspect and maintain seven sewerage pump stations, including pumps, compressors, portable heaters, bubbler system and pipes.
- Operate sludge dewatering machine, including computing feed dosage, diluting chemical feed and adjusting sludge flow.
- Collect sewage samples at various stages in the treatment process and process them in the laboratory for analysis.
- Maintains grounds at the treatment plant and pump stations.
Minimum qualifications
A candidate for this position should have a high school diploma or equivalent and one (1) to three (3) years’ experience in heavy equipment, mechanical, and/or wastewater experience. A candidate should have a valid Maine Class B Commercial Driver's License with Tank endorsement or obtain one within a year of employment. A New England Certification for Collection System grade 2 or higher, a Maine Wastewater License grade 2 or higher, and a Wastewater Laboratory Analyst Certificate grade 1 or higher are desirable.
