City of Auburn - Electrician/Inspector

The City of Auburn is seeking a community focused, and proficient Electrician/Inspector to join our Public Works Department. This position’s key role is inspecting new, existing and modified electrical installations including overall maintenance and repair of the City’s electrical infrastructure. This opportunity is designed for a candidate who combines strong technical skills with problem-solving and attention to detail while also being reliable, honest and committed to continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform duties of an electrical inspector and issues permits in compliance with codes

Responds to and resolves citizen complaints regarding electrical problems, hazards or violations

Assists in the preparation of the Electrical Division budget

Keeps informed of electrical needs and problems in all City facilities

Provides a safe work environment for the employee, co-workers, supervisors and the public

Assist electricians with assignments as needed

What We’re Looking For:
Associate’s degree or higher in the electrical field; minimum of five years’ experience as an apprentice and as a journeyman or equivalent combination

Masters’ Electrician’s License

National IAEI accreditation for electrical inspection and plan review, both general and residential (or ability to obtain within 12 months)

A valid Maine driver’s license in good standing

Commercial Driver’s License Class B (CDL) or ability to obtain a CDL
This position requires both office work and outside environment including roadways, city-owned buildings, parking lots and garages. Use of lifts, city vehicles including electrical vans and bucket trucks. The work involves moderate to high risks that require use of personal protective equipment. Flexibility in essential-work is performed in all weather conditions.

Salary range for this position is negotiable and is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
