The Town of Scarborough is seeking a full-time Engineering Technician to join our Engineering & Technical Services Department. This position assists in the administrative and technical work related to construction oversight, civil engineering, infrastructure planning, and development review. Overall responsibilities for this position include: erosion & sediment control inspections; general construction oversight; and a variety of field services, technical review of town infrastructure specifications, data collection, and infrastructure inspections in support of the Town’s Federal Stormwater Management (MS4) compliance. In addition, this position requires a high attention to detail; excellent organizational skills; and the ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written formats, create spreadsheets and graphs, and perform basic calculations.
Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or similar field of study from an accredited university or college program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. General knowledge of the engineering principles and construction practices as they apply to the operation of municipal and private infrastructure, such as transportation and stormwater management. Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences, ability to prepare written reports, plans, maps, and illustrations and proficiency in personal computer use including word processing, database and spreadsheet software, presentation software, geographic information systems, and engineering/design software, including computer aided design drafting. Must hold a valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record. Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills may be considered at the discretion of the Town of Scarborough.
