The Freeport Sewer District is accepting applications for the position of Office Administrator. This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule of approximately 20–30 hours per week, worked during normal business hours. Specific hours will be established by mutual agreement based on the needs of the District and the successful candidate.
This is an excellent opportunity for an office professional who enjoys variety and takes pride in helping a small organization operate efficiently. The District is currently undertaking a major wastewater treatment facilities rehabilitation and upgrade project. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful infrastructure improvements that will benefit the community for years to come while supporting the District's day-to-day administrative and financial operations.
Under the direction of the General Manager, the Office Administrator performs a variety of clerical, administrative, financial, and customer service duties to support the District's routine administrative and financial operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, accounts payable and receivable, payroll administration, financial and administrative recordkeeping, QuickBooks data entry, loan requisition support, customer billing support, project and construction recordkeeping, meeting support, purchasing office supplies, and providing exceptional customer service.
This position serves as a primary point of contact for customers, vendors and consultants. The successful candidate must be able to manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and establish positive working relationships with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
The successful candidate should possess the following:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Have thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office – specifically Word and Excel
- Experience with payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform essential functions of the job.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A high degree of professionalism, courtesy, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong work ethic, attention to details and team player.
- Must get along well with others, adaptable and resilient to different personalities.
- Dependable with the ability to follow instruction.
This position requires an on-site presence. Flexible weekday hours are available between 9:00a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Compensation: Starting at $25.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
