The Town of Skowhegan, Maine is seeking qualified applications for administrative and skilled supervisory work in the operation and maintenance of the Town of Skowhegan's wastewater treatment plant and pumping stations.

The employee of this class is responsible for direction and supervision of the wastewater treatment facilities and personnel including equipment, laboratory and maintenance operations.

Work involves ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the plant; the daily administration of the department including planning, budget, personnel, and training; maintaining liaison with federal, state and local agencies and professional organizations; and ensuring the plant operates in compliance with its federal and state discharge permits.

The Wastewater Treatment Plant has three full-time employees. 

Work is performed under the general direction of the Town Manager with considerable independence of action. Work is reviewed through reports and monthly monitoring by State and Federal regulatory agencies.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or its equivalent, a Grade III Wastewater Operator’s certificate and a valid Maine driver’s license.  The ideal candidate will have considerable experience in this field.
