About the Role:
The Winter Harbor Utilities District is hiring a Wastewater Plant Operator to support the safe and efficient operation of our municipal sewer treatment facility. This is a hands-on role in including maintenance, collections and laboratory work.

No prior experience? No problem! We are willing to train the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor pumps, valves, filters, and chemical feed systems
  • Perform daily testing and sampling to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Conduct equipment maintenance and system troubleshooting
  • Maintain accurate records of plant performance and activities
  • Respond to system alarms, emergencies, and equipment issues
  • Perform groundskeeping, seasonal tasks, and facility upkeep
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, including some nights, weekends, and holidays

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Maine Wastewater Operator License (must obtain within 12 months if not licensed)
  • Mechanical or wastewater experience a plus
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work independently

Work Schedule:

  • Weekdays – 6:30am to 3pm
  • Occassional weekends
